Data Compare Changes in Projects from Version 5
Stand Alone Data Compare Project
Version 5 required a schema compare to run and then the data compare could be configured through the data compare wizard. This is no longer the case and the Data Compare Project is a standalone project that loads the table and optionally view schema details and displays a list of tables to be selected for data compare.
Data Compare Wizard removed
The data compare wizard is now Table Selection tab within the data compare project. Some of the features are the same such as automatic adding of tables that existing in both source and target and the automatic selection of the primary key as the comparison index. Some things have also changed with more extensive mapping option so now tables with different names in source and target can be mapped plus columns with different names can be mapped.
Data Compare Project Options
Data compare options are a set of options distinct from the schema compare options. In version 5 both schema and data compare options were combined into a single option set regardless of whether a project was ever run as a data compare project.
Compare Views
Version 6 can include Views as part of the compare object selection process. Views may not be ideal as a target object however as a source object they can be compared or even mapped into a target table.
Customize Objects
Customize objects in version 5 provided a method of defining the columns of a table to compare, whether to script all columns plus the ability to configure load filters.
These have been separated into different sections of the data compare project. Column Selection and Columns to Script can be found in Configure Columns and Load Filters is described and can be found in the Table Selection section.
Data Compare Options - Save Data Filters
Save data filters is now called storage settings within the project settings.
